Kinderhulp Afrika is a charitable organization that has been caring for the most vulnerable children in Uganda—orphans—since 1987. Its goal is to help these children grow up to become healthy, independent individuals. Kinderhulp Afrika therefore provides these children with education, shelter, spiritual and medical care, so that they can later support themselves in every aspect of their lives.
INNOV8iON supports this foundation in any way it can. For example, Xander Rijken, founder of INNOV8iON, is actively involved with the foundation and has worked on several major IT projects. The goal of these IT projects was to support Kinderhulp Afrika’s back office through the implementation of a CRM system and Office 365. These systems have made it easier to maintain contact with sponsors, sponsor account holders, and Uganda. He also serves on the foundation’s board of directors. Rijken: “It’s wonderful to use your knowledge to contribute to a better world. That’s very rewarding. At INNOV8iON and within the team, we also see enthusiasm and a desire to make a difference. As INNOV8iON, we are therefore exploring how we can contribute even more—from IT projects to training programs—so that the children can keep pace with digitalization and have a chance at a better future.”
New Jeep
This summer, Kinderhulp Afrika’s jeep broke down. And in a country like Uganda, a car is indispensable. The four-wheeler is used for all kinds of trips—from simple tasks like picking up essential supplies to driving from the clinic out into the bush to check on babies’ health and administer necessary vaccinations.
To purchase a new Jeep, the foundation launched a crowdfunding campaign. Through a partner organization, Kinderhulp Afrika can acquire a Toyota Land Cruiser and, after receiving various donations and trading in the broken-down Jeep, still needs about 8,000 euros.
